Poetry: A Poem for Sarah

The grubby mattress folds in as a bucket waits,
Stiletto boots white as marble,
Twisted chairs with legs spread and garbled,
A strip light, incandescent, still.

A giant spider,
Squidish tripe set in cold white,
Objects petrified, eternal fruit,
Concrete wonders, gourds and pies,
A man marrow and a courgette.
